The Cowboy

They say you know a cowboy by the way he shapes his hat,
And by the fact you know a cowboy's always busted flat.
But the real way you'll know is not by looks, but by his deeds,
For when he's down to one thin dime, he'll help a friend in need.
You won't have trouble tellin' him from a boy scout--he's so dirty.
And with scars on his face and mud on his jeans, he ain't real perty.
But he's loyal as the day is long and courageous as a bull,
And though he's not too thrifty, he lives by the golden rule.
