2) Kirby and Jamie Jonas book, Disciples of the Wind
3) New Kirby Jonas customs

Howdy all!

I know this newsletter isn't exactly monthly. Heck, it isn't even "every-other-monthly!" There are a couple of reasons for that. 1) There isn't enough to fill a monthly newsletter. 2) I don't want to bore you all with what I COULD fill a newsletter with, a la, "how are the kids doing in school this week." 3) I'm too busy and/or lazy to sit down and write a monthly newsletter. In any given month, one or all of these reasons apply. But I promise, that doesn't mean a lot of you aren't on my mind. I consider a good many of you great friends, and I wish we could be in touch more often. Remember, when you're sitting there in a dark, silent room and you feel a "blip" go across your brain waves, that's probably me thinking of you. I'm only barely intelligent enough for my deepest thoughts to create a "blip."

Clint Walker and the National Enquirer

Well, I don't know if it's good or if it's bad. I don't know if this really means I now have celebrity status, or if I should just be happy they spelled my name correctly, and not "JONES." In the February 10th National Enquirer, I made honorable mention in an article on Clint Walker. For those of you who are fans of the big man, please check this out. There are some great photos of Clint in there, and the article is very kind to him, unlike most of what one generally reads in that particular rag. Fortunately, Clint called to tell me the article is there, or I would never have seen it. I just barely have time to do my research for own novels, and the N.E. is not considered as part of my research material! There are also some current pictures of Clint that show is in pretty good shape, and yes, all that black hair is his, and it is NOT dyed!

Kirby and Jamie Jonas book, Disciples of the Wind

As we have been receiving a steady stream of letters asking about my future novel with brother Jamie, I thought I should drop a line and let you know that I am back working on it, after a hiatus for Yaqui Gold. There are many bugs to be worked out on Disciples of the Wind, but it WILL be our 2004 edition to the Kirby Jonas collection, so if you feel so inclined, please say a prayer for me that my mind can be clear and I can get this now five year old brain child in print!

New Marx custom horses and action figures

Last, but not least, for you Marx fans, you may be happy to know I have completed a large number of custom horses in the last two weeks, and by this time in mid February I will have another four to eight finished and be heading down to the incredibly beautiful canyonlands of southern Utah to capture them on film for your viewing pleasure. I also have quite a few custom action figures, several of them cavalrymen, one pirate, an Indian chief, a MEAN-looking buffalo soldier, and a selection of good old fashioned cowboys. My own custom James West doll, of the Wild Wild West, will be among the number, and if I can get on the stick I'll also have the very first edition of Sam Coffey, the very first character from Clint Walker's and my novel, Yaqui Gold. Tom Vanse, his saddle partner, is still in the works.

It has been a great year, and I want to thank all of you for your support, and for helping us in our struggle through the challenges of life. We're in a new "homestead" now, up on the edge of town, with thousands of acres of forest and mountains behind us, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, deer, elk, cougar and moose, and who knows what else? Maybe Bigfoot!

I hope you're all having a great year, and if you have any questions or just want to say, please don't hesitate to drop us a note, and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Your friend,

Kirby Jonas
